El festival EnAct se abre a una acepción amplia y cambiante de lo que significa “performance”. Desde el mismo comisariado (Maria João Flôxo y Antonio Clavijo) hasta el último de los artistas que ha participado en él entienden que la heterodoxia y la libre expresividad no caben en una idea prefijada de disciplina artística, en un canon, en un dogma. Menos aún en una moda. Mientras se piensa qué es una performance, EnAct… actúa. Somos un festival que confía en el artista, en el público y en la intensa conexión en la que ambos habitan.

El festival necesariamente ha ido cambiando su forma, su manera de mostrarse al público, de exhibirse. La vida, sus contingencias, marcan el ritmo y lo convierten en un ente vivo, orgánico: hemos sido un festival con actuaciones cada mes y también con silencios prolongados, casi en hibernación; hemos pensado que nuestro hábitat natural era la ciudad y descubrimos encantados el campo y la periferia; hemos apostado por un espacio fijo como centro de operaciones y descubrimos que cierto nomadismo se ajustaba mejor a lo que queríamos ser; hemos creído que la galería de arte era el lugar ideal y hemos descubierto no hay escenarios sagrados ni indignos… En definitiva, hemos crecido y hemos encontrado la manera más honesta de ofrecer esos momentos de perplejidad, asombro y valentía que son la performance.

EnAct es un festival que cree que el arte contemporáneo ha de ser necesariamente un arte popular, una expresión cultural que tiene que ser retornada a su misma sociedad, que tiene que ser compartida. Por eso busca incansablemente artistas, propuestas, ideas, públicos, escenas y escenarios. La colaboración entre artistas y la presentación de sus obras más arriesgadas o nuevas son también objetivos del festival.

Performance, heterodoxia, organicidad, arte popular, multiculturalidad, son conceptos que ayudan a definir nuestro festival de manera rápida y sinóptica. Pero queda un último concepto importante, vital: transformación. Porque lo hemos visto, porque lo hemos vivido, porque lo hemos compartido … el poder transformador de la performance.

The EnAct festival opens up to a broad and changing sense of what “performance” means. From the same curatorship (Maria João Flôxo and Antonio Clavijo) to the last of the artists who have participated in it, they understand that heterodoxy and free expressiveness do not fit into a predetermined idea of ​​artistic discipline, in a canon, in a dogma. Even less in a fashion. While thinking about what a performance is, EnAct… acts. We are a festival that trusts the artist, the public and the intense connection in which both live.

The festival has necessarily been changing its form, its way of showing itself to the public, of exhibiting itself. Life, its contingencies, mark the rhythm and make it a living, organic entity: we have been a festival with performances every month and also with prolonged silences, almost in hibernation; We have thought that our natural habitat was the city and we discovered the countryside and the outskirts with delight; We have opted for a fixed space as a center of operations and we discovered that a certain nomadism was better suited to what we wanted to be; We have believed that the art gallery was the ideal place and we have discovered there are no sacred or unworthy settings ... In short, we have grown and we have found the most honest way to offer those moments of perplexity, amazement and courage that are performance.

EnAct is a festival that believes that contemporary art must necessarily be a popular art, a cultural expression that has to be returned to its own society, that has to be shared. That is why it tirelessly searches for artists, proposals, ideas, audiences, scenes and settings. The collaboration between artists and the presentation of their most daring or new works are also objectives of the festival.
Performance, heterodoxy, organicity, popular art, multiculturalism, are concepts that help define our festival quickly and synoptically. But one last important, vital concept remains: transformation. Because we have seen it, because we have lived it, because we have shared it ... the transforming power of performance.
